Printing Company Inks a Fortis NOC & SOC Contract

Aug 9, 2021

Customer :

Founded in 1994, this company offers multi-channel marketing solutions to their customers, including direct mail, packaging, merchandising, printing, and digital ads.

Environment :

The customer had a largely virtualized IT environment based in the cloud, which included NetApp for storage and Aerohive (aka Extreme Networks) for their wireless setup.

Challenge :

The customer was working on a technical audit to achieve SOC 2 (Service Organization Control) compliance. SOC 2 is a highly regarded designation that ensures service providers securely manage their data to protect the interests of the organization and the privacy of its clients. As part of the requirements for SOC 2, the customer had to find a network and security monitoring provider that was also SOC 2 compliant.

Solution :

When the customer began the SOC 2 auditing process, they had a year left on a Network Operations Center (NOC) monitoring contract with a different vendor. That vendor was not SOC 2 compliant and had no intention of seeking certification. As a SOC 2 compliant service organization, Fortis agreed to take over the NOC monitoring contract for the customer, as well as launch additional protection for the customer’s environment through Security Operations Center (SOC) monitoring.

Results :

The NOC and SOC monitoring provided by Fortis helped the customer obtain their SOC 2 certification. The customer was highly impressed with the level of service delivered by the Fortis NOC and SOC. Quite a few solutions and applications within the customer’s environment had not been covered by their previous NOC vendor, so they were thrilled to have help from Fortis with managing those elements. The SOC monitoring also offered the customer an extra layer of defense against cyber threats, which hadn’t been in place previously. Fortis holds quarterly quality assurance meetings with the customer to ensure they are getting the most from their monitoring investments and can make adjustments as needed.
